Allen M. Mullen Sr. (Peeps), 96, of Jackson, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2013, at home, surrounded by his family. Allen was born Oct. 29, 1916 in Phila, PA. He moved to Linden, NJ in 1925. While attending Linden High, he played on the 1934 undefeated/untied/ unscored upon football team. Allen was general foreman on the assembly line at General Motors-Linden Plant, where they built cars & during the war built planes. He worked there for 18 years until 1955, while living in Linden & Clark, NJ. He then moved to Ortley Beach, NJ where he opened a bakery & also started his trucking company, A. Mullen Trucking. In 1965, Allen moved to Jackson, NJ to expand his trucking business. He was a member of both, Garden State Earth Movers & New Jersey Motor Truck Assoc. Allen loved his family, his work, animals, sunshine & the water.
He was predeceased by his father & mother, Harold & Louise (nee: Roll) Mullen; & his sister, Thelma Spolowitz. He is survived by his wife, Janet; son & daughter-in-law, Allen & Dolores of Toms River; son, John of W. Palm Beach, FL; daughter, Kathleen Noll of Jackson; 5 grandchildren, Christina, Michael & his wife Lisa, John, Lauren & Veronica; 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of neices, nephews, cousins & friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meridian Hospice #80 Nautilus Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
