John Patrick Ward

Lancaster, Pa.

John Patrick Ward, of Point Pleasant Beach, NJ died Saturday, April 27, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born Jan. 4, 1927 in Bayonne, NJ. A patriot, he joined the U.S. Navy during WWII. John studied Civil Engineering at Purdue University where he met his next door neighbor and future wife, Barbara Strantz Ward. The couple was married in April 1953 recently celebrating their 60th anniversary. John will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and for his concern for the less fortunate whom he helped through various charitable organizations. He held dear his faith in God and the Catholic Church, and was an ardent supporter for the rights of the unborn.

Predeceased by his parents, Dennis and Mary; and siblings, Eleanor Early, Eugene and James, he is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Patti Jo Brautigam of Landisville, PA; son, Timothy Ward of Warren, NJ; granddaughters, Kailey and Corey Brautigam; and sisters, Anne Marie Jones and Kathleen Laba.

Donations graciously accepted by The at lung.org, and Boys Town at boystown.org. John requested that family and friends have a Catholic mass said on his behalf.

A funeral mass will be held in Lancaster PA on Thursday, May 2nd, a memorial mass will be held at his home parish of St. Peter's at the convenience of the family.
