Robert A. Pittius Sr., 75, a longtime resident of Union Beach, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was born in Perth Amboy to Joseph and Lillian Menzel Pittius. He was retired from the Carpenter's Union Local #620 in Madison. He was a member of of the UBC Retiree's Club of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a life member of the Barbertown Sportmen's Club. He was also a proud member of the NRA.
Robert was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Visconi; brothers, Joseph, William, John and Herbert; and in 1998 by his son, Robert A. Pittius Jr. He is survived by his sons, Joseph of Marlboro and Herbert of Hazlet; his daughter, Deborah L. Pittius Adamczyk of West Keansburg; brother, August and wife Peggy of Bethlehem, PA; sisters, Emma Jane Nadler of Venice, FL, Helen Nolan of Holmdel and Lillian Poling of Red Bank; grandchildren, Patricia Pittius Burdick, Robert Pittius III, Glenn Pittius, John J. Adamczyk, Jessica Pittius Newman and Joseph Pittius Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Veronica Pittius of Hazlet.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. & 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 16 at the Bedle Funeral Home, 212 Main St., Matawan.
