Ernest Josh Lee Lawson

Ernest Josh Lee Lawson the son of the late William and Virginia Pollard Lawson, was born on May 23, 1928 in Keyport, NJ. He departed this life on June 15, 2013 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Ernest was one of nine children. Ernest graduated from Keyport High School in 1946 and furthered his education by attending Winston-Salem State University in Winston Salem, NC. In 1956, Ernest was drafted into the NFL by the Chicago Bears. From the NFL, he joined the United States Air Force where he served 15 years. Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Ernest became a school teacher at Grant High School where he taught for twenty years. Ernest was united in Holy Matrimony to Ruby in 1953. From this union they were blessed with their son Ernest Ruben Lawson born in 1964. Later in life Ernest was remarried to Geraldine Singleton February 14, 2010. He was a faithful member of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Willingboro, New Jersey.

He was predeceased by both of his wives, Ruby and Geraldine, his parents, brothers and sisters. Ernest leaves to cherish his son Ernest Ruben Lawson of Willingboro and grandson Jarrad Mandeville-Lawson of Matawan. He also leaves behind Avery Lawson of Albuquerque, NM and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visiting will be on Monday from 9 am until his funeral service at 11 am at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 40 Charleston Road, Willingboro. Burial will be at the Brig. Gen. WC Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
