Warren Samuel Gordon

AGE: 88 • Tinton Falls

Warren Samuel Gordon, 88, of Tinton Falls, formerly of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2013, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on April 29, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to Mary and Phillip Gordon. He loved being a "city kid" and he set out on many adventures with his brother, Mel, in his youth. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Mt. Olympus in the Pacific during WWII. He returned to Brooklyn, NY after his enlistment and it was there that he ran into Janet Caffrey--fell in love--and embarked on a 62 year marriage. They moved their growing family to "Fleetwood Park" in Hazlet in 1957 and 6 children would become their life. Warren had many professions, working as a chef, a truck driver, and then retiring in 1989 from the Matawan Post Office. He was a strong, hardworking, opinionated, firm and loving man. He loved his family and was always there to help in any situation. Warren loved food and was always ready to take the entire Gordon clan out to eat. He was a good friend, a wonderful husband, loving dad, adoring grandfather and great-grandfather. He was always up for a party, and loved a good time. Warren loved, and was dearly loved by his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Phillip and Mary (Scholz) Gordon, and his 3 brothers, Robert, Perry, and Buddy Gordon. The Gordon family chain was broken in October of 2011, when he lost his beloved son, Warren Edward Gordon. Warren is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Janet (Caffrey) Gordon; his children, Robert Gordon of Tinton Falls, Diane Duncan and her husband George of Hazlet, Jeanne Brown and her husband Larry of Tinton Falls, Phyllis Francese and her husband Eugene of Littleneck, NY, and Carol Eastmond and her husband Edward of Union Beach; his daughter-in-law, Agnes Gordon of Brentwood, CA, along with his brother, Mel Gordon of Milltown. His 11 grandchildren were the light of his life and he celebrated all their accomplishments. His grandchildren include, Michael Duncan and his wife Sandy, Amanda Duncan, Jaime Lefler and her husband Jake, Brandon Gordon and his wife Lauren, Emmalee Windt and her husband Dylvan, Christopher Francese, Alexa Francese, Edward Eastmond, Brian Eastmond, Christian Brown, and Shelby Brown. Warren is also survived by his adored great-grandchildren, Anna Duncan, Hunter Lefler, Samantha Duncan, and Michael Duncan. He will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Our family would like to thank Meridian at Home Hospice for their care, Elizabeth Akazam of Griswold Home Care, and most of all our Mom, for the endless love and care she gave to our Dad. His legacy lives on in his family. We love you Dad, Pop, and Pop-Pop.
