Marilyn Ellen McKittrick Dunham, 82, passed away in San Diego, CA on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, after a brief battle with pneumonia. She was born on Nov. 14, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ to Ivan and Lena (Harvard) Lowell. Marilyn married James R. McKittrick in 1949 in St. Mary's Church in Keyport, NJ. They settled down in Union Beach where they raised their 5 children and later divorced. Marilyn lived a full, active life as a mother, wife and volunteer. She fancied herself an artist leaving a legacy of beautiful drawings for many to enjoy.
After moving to Chula Vista, CA in the early 80's, she met and married Mr. Guy Dunham who passed away 7 years ago. For 19 years, Marilyn volunteered at Scripps Mercy Hospital until her retirement in May 2013. It was truly a joyous time for her. She travelled extensively and made friends everywhere she went. She loved her family and friends and an occasional visit with a slot machine.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Skip and Frank; and her sisters, Pauline, Gertrude and Doris. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Colleen Covert of Long Branch; her daughter, Kathleen Ybarrondo of San Diego, CA; her daughter, Patricia Hickey of Whiting; her daughter, Lynn McKittrick of Long Branch; and her son, James McKittrick of Spring Hill, FL, as well as 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Route 35 Hazlet, NJ, followed by a reception at the home of her granddaughter and husband, Kelly and Patrick Ratz in Union Beach.
