George J. Dippold, 86, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2013 at home. Born in Newark to the late George and Rose Marie Dippold, after high school, he served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Dippold graduated from the former New Jersey Institute of Technology and went on to work for Whittaker, Clark, and Daniels, Inc. of South Plainfield for many years, retiring as President and CEO. George and his family formerly resided in Colts Neck before moving to Lakewood fourteen years ago. He was active with the St. Benedict's Alumni Association, the Christian Brother's Academy Father's Club, and most recently the Men's Club at Four Seasons. Among many pursuits, he enjoyed his regular weekly golf outings with friends, sharing his love of fishing, and time spent on the boardwalk near his summer home in Point Pleasant. Most of all, George enjoyed the quality time spent with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy "Dottie" Dippold, and his dear granddaughter Katelyn Rose Hawryluk. Surviving are his loving children, George J. Dippold, Jr. and wife Lesin of Richmond, VA; Karen J. Hawryluk and husband Mark of Jackson, and Roseann Brzostowski of Lakewood, his cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Krystal, George III, Madeline, Lucas, Paul, Christopher, Dakota, and Matthew, and his dear great granddaughter Autumn Rose.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00PM at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 31 at Holy Family R. C. Church, East County Line Road, Lakewood. Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George's memory to Ocean of Love for Children with Cancer, 1709 Rt. 37, Toms River, NJ 08753.
