Malcolm "Buddy" Markendorf, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Renaissance Gardens at Seabrook Village. Buddy is predeceased by his beloved Betty Markendorf, his wife of 64 years and his brother, Robert Markendorf. Buddy was originally from Jersey City. He and Betty lived in Lincroft and Holmdel before moving to Seabrook Village.
Buddy is survived by his two close cousins, Gail Solimine of Spring Lake Heights, and Diane Romanowski of Brick; his Godson, Scott Bechtle of Connecticut; and a sister-in-law, Elaine Wilde of Corpus Christi, Texas and their families.
Buddy was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Marine Corps. He attended Saint Peter's College in Jersey City where earned a Bachelor's Degree in accounting. Buddy was a Certified Public Accountant and was a Senior Partner/Executive with the firm Coopers and Lybrands. He enjoyed a long and successful career working with Coopers and Lybrands and also served as head of their training programs. He remained with Coopers and Lybrands, now known as Price Waterhouse Coopers, until his retirement.
Buddy was a loyal and devoted husband, friend and family member. Buddy will be remembered for his kind and caring nature; a true gentleman beloved by all who knew him.
There are no visitation hours. A funeral service will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank. Interment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army and the Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
