John F. Devlin, 87, of Spring Lake Heights, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. John was born and raised in Staten Island, NY, where he lived until moving to Spring Lake Hts. He graduated St. Peter's High School, Staten Island, class of 1944. He worked as a distributor for Coca Cola Bottling Company, New York, NY, until his retirement. He proudly served in the Army Air Force during World War II. John was a parishioner of St. Catharine Church, Spring Lake. He was a member of the Assumption Council 1694 Knights of Columbus, Staten Island, NY and the Trend Setter Seniors, Spring Lake Hts. John enjoyed traveling with his wife, Dorothy.
John was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Potter, and his brother, Eugene S. Devlin Jr. Surviving is his beloved wife of 41 years, Dorothy L. Devlin; his loving sister, Anna B. O'Brien of Staten Island, NY, and several nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
Visiting will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 at St. Catharine's Church, Spring Lake. Burial will follow in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt.
