George W. Beland Obituary
George W. Beland

AGE: 83 • Holiday City South, Berkeley Twp.

George W. Beland, 83, of the Holiday City South section of Berkeley Township, NJ passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Born in New York City, he moved to Old Bridge, NJ where he lived for 38 years before moving to Berkeley Township 14 years ago.

George was a graduate of the New York School of Printing and was a Printer for the Typographical Union Big 6 in New York City. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Force during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of St. Ambrose in Old Bridge, NJ before joining St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church in Berkeley. He was a member of the Old Bridge Senior Citizens Organization for 20 years and actively participated in the Holiday City South Social Club, and the Holiday City South Men's Club.

He was not only the patriarch of the Beland family, he was the heartbeat and the glue that kept the family together and laughing. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Anyone that had the privilege of being in his company, even for just a few minutes, was guaranteed to laugh. His sense of humor was second to none and is his most memorable attribute. He was a life-long Yankee and Rangers fan who enjoyed life on-the-go, traveling, dining-out and living life to its fullest. He never missed a party or a chance to spend time with family and friends celebrating.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Muriel, 2 sons, Walter and his wife Mary Ann of Toms River, and George and his wife Shell of Bozeman, Montana; 2 daughters, Marge and her husband, John Neefus, and Adrienne and her husband, Patrick Bowen, both of Toms River; 2 grandchildren, Christine and her husband, John Camarca, of Jackson and Jennifer Neefus of Toms River; the pride and joy of his life, his great-grandson, Nicholas; 7 nieces, 1 nephew and many other loving family members.

The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Timothy E Ryan Home for Funerals, 145 St. Catherine Boulevard in Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday 11:30am at St. Maximillian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Township. Burial to follow at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
