William A. Wescott, 80 of Oceanport, died Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. He was born in Leonia, NJ, to Albert and Louise Westcott in 1933 and was formerly a resident of Rumson, moving to Oceanport in 1990. Bill graduated from Newark Academy in Livingston in 1952 and received his Bachelor's degree from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island in 1956. He was in Trust and Estate Banking for 40 years and retired from First Fidelity Bank. He served his country honorably in the US Army Counter Intelligence Corp. Bill was a parishioner of the Church of the Nativity since 1962. He was a past member and past President of the Red Bank Rotary Club, a founding member of the Monmouth County Conservation Foundation and the Monmouth County Brown Club. Bill was also a member of the Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club, a member of the Root Beer and Checkers Club and the Society of the Cincinnati. He was an avid equestrian rider, sailor, historical ship model builder and a history buff.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Rose Summonte Wescott; a son, Drew Wescott of Oceanport; a daughter and son-in-law, PamelaWescott-Arkenau and Christopher Arkenau of West Long Branch; a granddaughter, Mackenzie Arkenau; a cousin, William Van Winkle, of Little Silver, who he considered him a brother; his brother and sisters-in-law, Emilio Summonte of Florida, Gloria Miccuilla of Oceanport and Patricia Maher of Oakhurst and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 10 am at the Church of the Nativity, 180 Ridge Road in Fair Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to
