Thomas P. Gleason, 88, of Brielle, passed away Friday at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Elizabeth, NJ he moved to Brielle in 1972. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy from 1943 to 1946 on the aircraft carrier USS Lake Champlain, CV-39. He was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign War, Manasquan Post #1838. Thomas worked for Standard Oil at the Bayway Refinery in Linden as a pipe fitter and as a lab technician in Rockefeller Center, NYC and Florham Park, NJ before retiring in 1971. He was best known for his wonderful sense of humor and spent the latter part of his years sharing that gift as a bartender at the Old Stock in Linden, Garruzzo's in Brielle, The Brielle Yacht Club and the Manasquan Elks. He was a lifelong member of the Elizabeth and Manasquan Elks.

Mr. Gleason was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, R. Lois (nee Nilsen) Gleason, his mother and father, Mary (nee Dillon) and William Gleason; his sisters Eileen and Molly and brother William (Sonny). He is survived by his daughter Eileen, sons Thomas, Kevin and Sean Gleason and wife Debra; his grandchildren Kelly, Brianna, Conor, Jack and Mary; his great-grandchildren Shane and Aiden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation Monday July 14, 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday July 15 at 9:30 am at St. Denis Church, Manasquan. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Manasquan VFW Post#1838 Building Improvement Fund, 30 Ridge Ave, Manasquan, NJ 08736.
