William Gonska Obituary
AGE: 92 • Pinehurst, NC
William John Gonska,Sr., 92, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 4, 2016. He leaves behind his loving wife of 69 years, Catherine. He also leaves three daughters, Cathy Abbruscato and her husband, John; Jean Eagan and the late Peter M Eagan; Elaine Eadon and her husband, Thomas; and son, William J. Gonska, Jr. and his wife, Patricia. He was blessed also with twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was born January 10, 1924 in Newark, New Jersey. He served in WW II as a navy pilot Lt (jg). He and Catherine married October 5,1946. Bill worked for Equitable Life Assurance Society as a district manager and when he retired, he and Catherine moved from Holmdel, N.J. to Pinehurst, N.C. where they enjoyed living on the golf course and playing golf frequently. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pinehurst, NC at 1:00 pm on February 9, 2016, officiated by Father Edward J. Burch. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy, Ste. 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256, www.supportwound edwarriorproject.org
