Lakewood: Herbert A. Nuber, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Shorrock Gardens Care Center in Brick. Born and raised in New York, NY to August and Elizabeth (Dauterman) Nuber, in 1988 he moved from Mahwah, NJ to Lions Head Woods in Lakewood.

Herbert was a Veteran of the United States Air Force having served in World War II as a B-17 pilot. While he was a pilot he completed 35 missions in 96 days.

Herbert retired from IBM as a Manager in 1988.

He volunteered for 23 years with 7,000 hours of volunteering at Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus, Lakewood.

Herbert was an active bowler in the Lions Head Woods and also enjoyed traveling and going on cruises.

He is predeceased by his first wife, Doris Nuber in 2005 and his stepdaughter, Marion Crump in 1999.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Jean Cooper; his stepson, Richard Cooper and his wife, Dianne; his stepdaughters, Diane Cooper and June Cooper Delgado and her husband, Sady; his step son in law, David Crump; his sister, Edna McCarthy and her husband, William; his nephews, Robert McCarthy and his wife, Carrie and William and his wife, Anne; his 7 step grandchildren; Megan, Jessica, Melissa, Ricky, Rachel, Nicole and Matthew.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 1-5 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, NJ 08724. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by the interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Herbert's name to the Brick Presbyterian Church, 111 Drum Point Rd., Brick, NJ 08723.
