Hal Haughey Obituary


Hal Wayne (Moe) Haughey passed away January 9, 2015 at Rideout Hospital of a stroke. Hal was born August 21, 1939 to Henry (Shorty) and Cleo Haughey in Santa Monica, California.

Moe graduated from Yuba City High School in 1957. During high school and after, he worked for Onstott Dusters getting his pilot license. Moe received his commercial license in 1959 and began crop dusting that year. Moe started rice farming in 1967.

In 1960, he married Irene Turner. They had two sons, Burton Haughey and Gary Haughey. At that time Moe worked for Hunt Foods and flew crop dusters.

Moe married Nadine Pitts and they later divorced.

Moe was a very ambitious man, owning Moe's Crop Dusting business' in his life, he began first at Yuba County Airport in Marysville, second in Williams, CA, third in Wheatland, CA and his last operation in Nicolaus, CA, where he lived and farmed rice. One of Moe's many pleasures in life was spending his winter time in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Moe was preceded in death by his parents Cleo and Shorty Haughey and brother Bob Haughey. Survivors include his son Burton Haughey of Wheatland, CA, son Gary Haughey of Grimes, CA and sister Patricia Davis of Las Vegas, NV.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Yuba City at Franklin Hall, Yuba City Fairgrounds, February 6, 2015 at 11:00 am. Memorials to a favorite charity of your choice.
