Ted passed away peacefully on January 27, 2013 after a short illness. Ted was born in Niagara Falls, New York to Theodore Hansen Sr. and Harriette Hansen on June 20, 1936.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Barbara of Niagara Falls, New York.
Ted is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mildred, his son, Randy (Pattie) Laubhan of Fair Oaks, grandchildren, Lisa Laubhan of Santa Ana, Eric Laubhan of Mission Viejo, great grandchildren Adrian del Can, Eva del Can, Taylor, Drake, Kaleb and Charlene Laubhan, sister, Joan Mansu of Galt and sister, Marvel (John) Clement of Niagara Falls, New York.
Ted enlisted in the United States Air Force on July 30, 1952 where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation Medal for his time spent in Germany. Ted was discharged from the military on July 28, 1956 where he remained in New York before finding his way to Southern California six month later, eventually making California his permanent home.
It was truly a fateful day in 1956, when he saw the love of his life, Mildred, in her stunning red velveteen pants, dropping her son Randy at a friends across from his home that the pursuit began and finally on January 24, 1959, they were married.
Ted was employed by Garrett Industries (Air Research Division) later becoming Allied Signal. He was the manager of field engineering for 40 years traveling throughout the United States and overseas as well as locating to Yuba City for work with the SR71 project at Beale Air Force Base from 1964-1974. Upon his retirement from Allied Signal in 1996, he and Mildred made their home in Yuba City and Seal Beach.
Retirement continued with many activities, involvement with the Sons of Norway, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, Sons in Retirement and the SR71 Retirement Group. He was passionate about all that he did which truly set him apart because you could feel his passion.
He loved golf meetings, his friends on the course, billiards, fishing particularly whiling away the hours on his boat, gardening, woodworking and of course his famous eggplant parmesan all the better because he grew the eggplant!!
Ted will be fondly remembered for his extreme kindness, graciousness, generosity, humbleness, hearty laugh, twinkling eyes, infectious smile and huge bear hugs!
We will miss him; our lives will have a void, but the memories his wife Mildred, son Randy and daughter- in-law Pattie have, will continue to warm our hearts. Ted was a truly a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. at Sutter Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church on 2:30 pm, both on Monday, February 4, 2013.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Assoc. or U. C. Davis Cancer Center for cancer research.

Although Ted and I had not been in contact for several years, an empty space will exist just knowing that he is no longer with us. Ted was a very caring and generous person and I know firsthand from our earlier working days at Airesearch in Torrance. We worked on several projects together where he was the master in terms of quick thinking and finding solutions. To Mildred, you may not remember me but the last time we were in contact was when I journeyed to Yuba City and Ted and I went fishing. I want to wish you and your family God's speed and know that Ted is there watching.

My deepest sympathy to Ted's family. I worked with Ted many years at AiResearch. The most notable was the time spent at Area 51 on the Blackbird program. Ted was an inspiration to all, I will miss him greatly.
