How to Submit an Obituary
How do I publish a loved one’s death in the newspaper and online?
Family members may place a paid obituary in the Appeal-Democrat or choose a death notice that is published without charge. The following information explains these terms and how you should proceed.
Death Notices
Basic information is published one time with name of the deceased, age, city of residence, date passed away and who arrangements are under.
i.e.
(LAST NAME) – (Full Name), (age), of (residence), passed away on (date). Arrangements are under the direction of (name of funeral home), 000-000-0000.
Paid Obituaries
Families frequently give more details about their loved one, including a photograph. As an added service to you, paid obituaries are included on
www.appealdemocrat.com. Each obituary is archived at
www.appealdemocrat.com and can be made into a printable version or emailed to friends and family.

Legacy
Legacy.com is an online guest book that allows friends and family to express condolences and share memories. The guest book remains online for a full year.
Guidelines
Paid Obituary deadlines are as follows:
* Submissions received by 10am Monday through Friday will publish the next day.
* Approval and payment for the notice is 12:00pm the day prior.
* A proof and price will be emailed or faxed.

Monday-Friday 9am-3pm
Closed Saturday and Sunday
Copy submission is preferred via email as a Microsoft Word document.
Photo submission is accepted in the following formats: jpg, eps or pdf version.
Fax and hard copy delivery are also accepted.
