Angel M. Diaz Sr.

Angel M. Diaz, Sr. fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 92, on March 29, 2014. He was born on November 24, 1921 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. He retired to Yuba County, where he was a resident for 30 years. Prior to that he lived in New York City, where he met his wife and raised his family. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend to many, many people from New York to California.

Angel was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Marysville, and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a retired Doctor of Chiropractic and a retired Pharmacist. He spent several years traveling the world as a Merchant Marine, most notably during the Korean War. He enjoyed reading, walking, being involved in politics, but what gave him the most joy of all was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Angel will be remembered for his service to his Church, his witty sense of humor, his joy, his strength, and his pride in his family and his country, the U.S.A.

Angel is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Victoria Diaz of Marysville; his children: Angel Diaz, Jr. of Yuba City, Dennis Diaz of Yuba City, Marlene Diaz of New York City, Robert Diaz of New York City, and Franklin Diaz of New York City; grandchildren: Angel Diaz, III of El Paso, TX, Victoria Cardona of El Paso, TX, Michelle Reynoso of Brownsville, CA, Jessica Diaz of Yuba City, Dennis Diaz, Jr. of Marysville, and Brittany Diaz of Marysville; sisters: Aida Diaz, of Miami, FL, and Bienvenida Diaz of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and many beloved great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Edelmiro, mother Lucia, and siblings: Hilda Diaz, Angel Rafael Diaz, Angel Ramon Diaz, and Angel Luis Diaz.

Close friends are invited to visit on Monday, April 7, 20014 from 2 - 4 P.M. at Holycross Memorial, 486 Bridge Street in Yuba City. A Rosary will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 7th and C street in Marysville on Monday April 7, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. officiated by Mr. Joe Caputo of the Knights of Columbus. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Sierra View Memorial Park, 4900 Olive Avenue, Olivehurst. Father Juan Perez will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the California State Sheriffs' Association, 1231 I Street Suite 200, Sacramento, CA 95814.
