Gilbert R. Harris


Gilbert R. Harris passed away June 26, 2014 at Upland Rehab Care Hospital in Upland, CA. He was born in San Francisco, CA. on April 1, 1927.

Gil was a resident of Yuba City for 30 years. He also served our nation in the Navy during WWII. He worked 29 years for Rawson Drug and Sundry Company. He with wife Merlene managed Kimerand Apartments in Yuba City for Sierra Pacific Management Company for 30 years.

Gil loved nature, music, travel, reading, weight lifting, family and friends. He wrote over 300 letters to the Appeal Democrat.

He is survived by his wife Merlene of Upland, CA, 2 Step-sons and their wives David and Emily Greenwood of Upland, CA, Bill and Ruth Greenwood of Idaho, 8 grandchildren, 5 nephews, 3 nieces, and also good friends Fred and Rita Hayes of Marysville and Gary and Joyce Anderson of Marysville.

He was preceded in death by son Brian Harris and sister Doren Mizel.

Graveside service will be held on July 12, 2014 at Sutter District Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Reverend Wayne Vincent of Loma Rica will be officiating. A celebration of Gil's life will take place at 2251 Sampson St., Marysville following the graveside service.
