Isabelle Ritchie Hawley

Isabelle Ritchie Hawley, 94, passed away March 3, 2014 with family by her side. She was born Nov. 12, 1919 in Inverallochy, Scotland to James and Helen MacGlashan Ritchie.

She was greeted into eternity by her husband of almost 72 years,

Gilbert Pierce Hawley.

Isabelle graduated from Venice High School, in Venice, CA and attended business school in Santa Monica, CA. Pierce and Isabelle were married April 30, 1941 in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple and made their first home in Mar Vista, CA. Having spent many years as a Medical Receptionist, Isabelle enjoyed her final working years in partnership with her husband as Custodians for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Simi Valley, CA and Gridley, CA. Upon retiring they served an LDS mission in Atlanta, Georgia. Isabelle was active in her Church, always serving valiantly in a variety of positions and responsibilities.

Isabelle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pierce; her parents; her brother, Louis Ritchie; a son, Steven Hawley; infant daughter, Marilynn Hawley; and one great- grandchild, Gianna Lyon.

She is survived by her son, Dennis Hawley (Sharon) of Rosemount, MN; daughters Marylee Hammerstrom (Tom) of Midvale, UT and Laurel Stubblefield (Lewis) of Yuba City, CA; as well as 24 grandchildren and 68 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services, under the direction of Bishop Michael Davis, will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, 1470 Buttehouse Rd., Yuba City, CA, with burial to follow at Sutter Cemetery.
