JB Carterby, 87, of Marysville, CA, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home.
Born in Oklahoma to Ballied and Tessie Carterby, he was one of 9 children. He served his military time with the Army and was discharged in 1956. He worked for International Paper Company in Amboy, Washington for 20 years, and as a Saw Filer Specialist at the Ross Simmons Saw Mill in Longview, Washington.
JB was a very active man in all his years and especially loved riding horses and participating in rodeo and all activities equestrian.
He loved his family and spent countless hours with each of them from coaching sports when his children were small to attending games for grandchildren in later years.
JB is proceeded in death by first wife Violet Carterby, which he had daughter Debbie Proctor (her husband Stewart) and son Steve Carterby.
JB is survived by his wife and best friend, Faye Carterby. He was a wonderful step father to daughters, Sharon Buckley (her husband Paul), Lequitta Geiger, and Melvina Tarr (her husband Dave); 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. One surviving brother, Jim Carterby (wfie Sandy) and one surviving sister, Barbara Barker.
A public celebration of life will be held at The Chapel of the Twin Cities at 715 Shasta Street, Yuba City, CA on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 2:30 PM. A gathering immediately following at the Shiloh Rec Room located at 859 Jones Rd., Yuba City.
Final resting place for JB will be at the Lewisville Cemetery in Battleground, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Sutter North Hospice. They made this journey for JB a very comfortable and peaceful time.
