Laurie (Litchfield) Steelman of Yuba City, passed on March 20, 2014 at the age of 51. She was born in Marysville on August 22, 1962.
Laurie worked as a Para Educator for Special Ed as a substitute in Marysville/ Wheatland School District. She was also involved in Special Olympics
Her love was Softball and it started with Bobby Sox back in the 70's at the age of 9. She then continued on with playing at Yuba City High School and she made lifetime friends to this day with her teammates. Her daughter, Tarah (Hagen) Green continued in her mother's footsteps and will continue to hit the ball over the fence for her Mom.
Laurie's survivors are her mother, Peggy Durham of Yuba City; father and step-mom, Clyde and Linda Litchfield of Hallwood; sisters, Kimberly Smith of Yuba City, Dana Perin of Hallwood, and Kim Day of Yuba City; maternal grandmother, Roberta Cook of Yuba City. She is also survived by her loved and cherished three children, Tarah Green, Jeff Steelman, and Cody Steelman; and their father, Wayne Steelman of Olivehurst. She also has two wonderful grandchildren, Hailey and Chris Green of Olivehurst. Also, she is survived by her special 2 year old nephew, "Lil Robert" who would always greet her in the early morning before work with "Lo, I La You" She also leaves behind her favorite uncle, Jim Cook (Carol) of Sacramento; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Laurie was preceded in death by her grandfather, Frank Cook; and her step-dad, Ron Durham.
Arrangements being handled by Ullrey's Memorial Chapel. Services will be conducted by Jim Clark of Crossroads Church on March 25th, 2014 at 2:00pm at Sutter Cemetery.

Laurie, we will miss you babe and there will be a void in or hearts, but we take comfort in knowing you are no longer suffering. RIP.
