Philip Stephen Hoskins, 81, of Browns Valley, passed away March 25, 2013 at Rideout Hospital in Marysville, CA. Born January 14, 1932 in Water Valley, Arkansas. A resident of the Yuba-Sutter area for 19 years. He was an Instrument Specialist for Southern California Gas Co.
Philip served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1953.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Sutter Buttes Gem and Mineral, Friends for the Preservation of Yuba County History. Many of the signs designating historical sites of Yuba City history were made and posted by Phil.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Louise Slate Hoskins of Collins Lake; 4 sons: Stephen Hoskins (Pamela) of Hermiston, OR, David Hoskins (Sunni) of Arizona, Scott Hoskins (Aracely) of Palmdale, CA, Mark Hoskins (Yvonne) of Gilbert, AZ; brother, James Hoskins; 17 grandchildren and 21 1/2 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his brother Paul Hoskins, parents William and Ruby Hoskins, parents-in-law William and Alice Slate.
Per his request no services will be held.
