Robert Erwin (Bob) Hill

Bob passed away on February 2, 2014. He was born on January 4, 1927 in Sacramento, CA. He graduated from McClatchy High School and joined the US Merchant Marines. He went on to serve in the US Army where he worked as a disc jockey going by the name of "Smiling Bob." He attended Sac State and UC Berkeley focusing on engineering. He worked for PG&E until his retirement after 33 years.

In 1952 he married the late Audrey Bell and they had two sons, John and Michael. In 1968 he took a position as Land Manager of the Colgate division in Marysville and the family moved to Yuba City.

He was active with the Moose and made many friends there. He participated in several bowling leagues over the years continuing until he was in his mid 80s. He loved to travel, visiting over 60 countries, and served as the travel coordinator for the SIRS leading many tours over the years.

Besides his sons, Bob is survived by three grandchildren: Rebecca, Rob and Carlie, five great grandchildren and by his brother Allen "Wink" Hill. He is also survived by his dancing partner and longtime companion Jean Leach.

There will be a celebration of life Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11:00 at the Moose Lodge in Yuba City. All are welcome to attend.

Interment will be at a later date at the family plot in the City Cemetery in the town of Columbia, CA where his father's family had homesteaded.
