Ruth Blackdeer passed away on the morning of November 12, 2012 in San Pablo, California. Ruth was born in Cardiff, Wales and moved as a young adult with her family to Toronto, Canada.
She worked as a police officer
while residing in Toronto and later married her husband, Floyd Blackdeer while he was serving in the US Air Force.
They eventually settled in Marysville, California after Floyd retired from active military service. Ruth resided in Yuba County for thirty-one years; she worked as a shift supervisor for the Yuba-Sutter Juvenile Hall for 17 years and then spent time working for the Marysville Joint Unified School District.
Ruth loved spending time with her family, collecting antiques, tending to her garden (especially her roses), and doting on her beloved pets.
Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband Floyd; her parents, Robert Brotherton and Madge Sparkes; Richard Blackdeer (nephew), Alex LaMere (nephew) and Brenda LaMere (niece).
She is survived by her daughter Jenny Blackdeer and son-in-law Robert Young and their three children, Sophia, Vincenzo, and Nicolaus, of El Sobrante, CA; her daughter Darcia Blackdeer-Lent and son-in-law David Lent of Bishop, CA; her son Dirk Blackdeer and daughter-in-law Crystal Swann-Blackdeer of Tonganoxie, KS; her brother Robert and sister-in-law Barbara Sparkes, nieces Lisa Williams and Anita Clark of Toronto, Ontario Canada; nephews Robert LaMere, Mike LaMere, and Levi Blackdeer; Patricia Lowe Ennis, Caroline Blackdeer, Barbara Blackdeer- Mackenzie, Marilyn LaMere, Cecilia Dobbs, Gladys LaMere Ebata, Carole Reese, and Gladys Morgan of Wisconsin; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.
