Thorban John Sellers

Retired Chief Master Sergeant Thorban John Sellers passed away peacefully from this life on March 7, 2014 at Rideout Memorial Hospital, with his family at his bedside, at the age of 78.

He was a Vietnam Veteran and was awarded an Airman's Medal in 1968. He retired from Beale AFB after 30 years of service. After that he worked as a civilian contractor on the flight line with Transit Alert for 15 years. Along with his military service he enjoyed farming his 9 acres of walnuts.

He is preceded in death by his father Lucian H. Sellers, his mother Virginia W. Postert, his step-father Herbert Schilab. His wife Janet I. Sellers of 52 1/2 years of marriage, a step-sister Ruby L. Clough and a brother JC Schilab.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memories are a son Thorban Sellers of Colorado; two daughters: Judi Keen of Sacramento, Vonda Treat of Yuba City; two sisters: Mary B. Mattocks of Texas, Irene D. Buyers of Texas; 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He will be dearly missed but all those whose lives he touched.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 22nd, from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Lipp and Sullivan Funeral home in Marysville. Funeral services will be on Sunday, March 23rd at 2:00 pm at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1460 Richland Road, Yuba City, CA. Burial will be Monday, March 24th at 11:00 am at the Sutter Cemetery with 21-gun Military Salute.
