Timothy Smith, 62, of Nicolaus, CA, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2016 in Marysville, CA.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Dolores Smith of Nicolaus; his daughter, Jennifer (Keith) Turner; son Larry (Luz) Smith; and his four beautiful granddaughters: Lily Smith, Evelyn Turner, Aubrey Turner, and Lyla Smith, all of Plumas Lake, CA. He is also survived by his mother, Sue Smith, of Rio Oso; three sisters: Stephanie Campouris, Kathleen Vincent, and Kelly Essary; and one brother, Patrick Smith.
Tim was a lifelong Yuba-Sutter resident, and graduated from East Nicolaus High School in 1972. He is a 1976 graduate of CSU Chico, and worked as a supervisor at Reclamation District 1001 for nearly 30 years.
Tim devoted his life to volunteering and serving the South Sutter community. He served on the East Nicolaus Fire Department for over 20 years, was a former member of the Marcum-Illinois School Board, served on the Sutter County Grand Jury, was an active member of the Lincoln Rifle Club and Sacramento Swiss Sports Club, a lifetime member of the NRA, and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. Additionally, he was involved with the South Sutter Recreation Association (SSRA). He also touched the lives of many children and teens of the community, as a long-time baseball and softball coach for South Sutter Little League.
Tim was known by all to be a kind, caring, passionate man with a great love and pride for his family, friends, and community. He was always seen with a smile on his face, and a positive attitude. He loved all sports, especially baseball and hunting, and had a lifelong passion for history and traveling.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim's honor to the SSRA Save The Pool fund.
Rosary will be recited Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 5:00 pm at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, Yuba City. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 21, 2016, at 10:00 am, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Nicolaus, CA, Fr. Roland Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Rio Oso, CA. Arrangements under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel.

Tim was a sweet and gentle soul who always had a contagious smile and warm welcome for everyone. Our prayers go out to Delores, Aunt Sue and all of the Smith family. Rest in peace Tim.
