Allen Edward Sutfin Obituary

Allen Edward Sutfin passed away at his home on October 23, 2015. He was born to the parents of Agnes and Harold Sutfin on the family ranch in Olivehurst.

Allen graduated from Marysville High School and attended college to become a barber. He had his own barber shop located on Linda Corners, prior to going into the Navy. Allen served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge due to a family illness to come home and work on the family ranch. After helping the family, Allen barbered at Chiseler's Inn for many years before going to work at Palace Meat Company as a butcher, maintenance worker and truck driver. Allen retired from Palace Meat Company in 1984.

Allen met the love of his life, Dorothy Belle Gilmore and they were married on May 9, 1953. Allen and Dorothy bought a home in Linda, raised their three children and ran a boat shop out of their home together, Sutfin's Boat and Marine Repair.

Allen loved boats. His passion was racing boats. He started racing in 1953 and his last time in a race boat was at Lake Minden in East Nicolaus, California in 2001 at the age of 72. He won many awards throughout his career. He was eager to help anyone in need. He always had a story or two or three to tell. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but his stories will remain in our hearts forever.

Allen is survived by his daughters, Clarine Musfelt (Stuart), Rita Marler (Gary); his son, Allen Sutfin, Jr. (Cindy); grandchildren, Phillip Marler, Adam Musfelt, Heather Lee, Stacy Hammett and Kristy Helzer, and 9 great grandchildren. Sisters, Erma Ditzler and Ruth Anthony.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy, in 2009. They were married for 56 years.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m, Thursday, October 29th at Ullrey Memorial Chapel and services at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30th at Ullrey Memorial Chapel followed by burial at Sierra View Memorial Park.
