Ann Michelle "Michie" Ruiz Obituary

On the evening of August 22, 2015, Ann passed away quietly after a long battle with many health issues. She was attended by her loving husband, Randy, at home.

Ann Ruiz was born in the city of Fontana, California on November 29, 1971. She was the third child and the only daughter of Nancy and David Castillo. Ann was a loving wife, mother and daughter. Her daughter, Shelby, said that Ann was the most important person in her life - the woman who raised her to be the person she is today. Ann had the strength and grace to handle things even when they went wrong and to roll with the punches. Shelby thanked her mother for helping her grow and teaching her how to be a fighter.

Ann was an exceptional artist and expressed her art through many mediums, including cake decorating and photography. Ann received two Associate of Arts degrees from Yuba College. She loved to laugh and was the kindest friend to anyone who knew her. She expressed her love for the Lord through grace and mercy in many ways, including feeding the homeless even when she had little herself.

Ann is survived by her husband, Randy; her children, Shelby McDonald, Cassia Ruiz and Sean Ruiz; her mom and step-dad, Nancy and Ether Patton of Olivehurst; her father and step-mother David and Yolanda Castillo of Yucaipa; her brothers, David Castillo of Sacramento and Paul Castillo of Cibolo.

A viewing will be held at Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Home, 629 D Street, Marysville, CA 95901, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. A memorial service will also be held the following day, Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Lipp and Sullivan Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Ann will be interred at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620 at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015.

Special thanks to Dr. Zachary Holt of U.C. Davis Medical Center, Internal Medicine Clinic in Sacramento for his care and attention to all of Ann's needs. She often expressed her appreciation of Dr. Holt's care and concern. He checked on her often and when she needed new medications, he followed up on her reactions. He went above and beyond what most physicians do. Dr. Holt was truly dedicated and conscientious in his care for Ann.
