Antonette Jeanne (Toni) Tindel Obituary

Antonette Jeanne "Toni" Tindel passed away at the Fountains Care Home in Yuba City on July 4th, 2015, at the age of 96 years. She was born on May 14, 1919 in Tormey, CA to her parents, Pedro and Maria Perez, who preceded her in death, along with her brother, Joseph Perez and sisters, Josephine Ceballos and Sister Mary Martha Perez. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Tindel and youngest child, John Tindel.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Tindel of Marysville and son, Gary Tindel (Irene) of Yuba City, daughter-in-law, Julie Tindel of San Diego and grandchildren Josh Tindel (Jessica) of Sacramento, Michelle Tindel of Yuba City, Alicia Tindel of Yuba City, Chad Tindel (Sonia) of New York City and Melissa McCray (Dennis) of San Diego and 10 great-grandchildren.

Antonette grew up in Tormey, CA and spent most of her younger years living in Richmond, CA with her family. She attended John Sweat Elementary School in Tormey and went to St. Vincent's Catholic High School in Vallejo, graduating in 1937. After high school, she worked at various places in Contra Costa and Solano Counties. In 1943 she met the love of her life, Marvin Tindel, who was welding in the ship yards in Richmond. They married on June 26th, 1943 in the Church of the Madeline in Salt Lake City, Utah, while he was in the Army-Air Force preparing to ship out for World War II.

After Marvin was discharged from the military, they moved to Sacramento then ultimately settled in Marysville. Their first child, Carolyn, was born in 1946. Son, Gary was born in 1947 and son, John, was born in 1949.

After her children began elementary school, Toni worked as a meat wrapper at the Riverside Market, the Cloverleaf Locker-Plant and Cloverleaf Meats. In 1962 she began employment as a meat wrapper for Lucky Stores in Yuba City and retired from the Marysville Store in 1975.

Beginning in 1976, Toni began "fun time employment" as a grandmother. Toni was devoted to her family and especially enjoyed showering love on all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

During Toni's life, she was a dedicated Catholic and parishioner at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville. She raised her children Catholic and all attended the Sacraments on a regular basis. One of the greatest delights in her life was the Baptism of her husband, Marvin, into the Catholic Church in 1992 by Father Leon Juchniewicz at Rideout Hospital.

Toni dedicated many years caring for her husband at home until his death in 1999. In 2008, Toni began having medical issues, which resulted in Care-Home Living for the past seven years. She was living at the Fountains Care Home in Yuba City for two years, where she died in her sleep on the 4th of July.

Toni's family would like to thank the Staff at the Fountains for the love and care they provided during those two years. They would also like to thank Marysville Physician, Dr. William Nakashima, and his nursing staff for the love and exceptional medical care they provided to Toni for over 30 years.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Chapel of the Twin Cities and Crematory in Yuba City, telephone 530-673-4360. A viewing will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, then a rosary will be recited at the Chapel on Thursday evening, July 9th at 7:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Friday at 11:00 AM, followed with burial at the Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst.
