Arther Davis Obituary
Arther Davis
Art Davis, of Yuba City, CA, passed away on September 30, 2015 at Rideout Hospital. Art was born on January 31, 1935 in Glasgow, Kentucky. At the age of 11, he, his parents and siblings, brother Cecil and sister Waneda moved to Linda, California. After he graduated from Marysville Union High School, he joined the Navy Search and Rescue Team in 1956.

When he returned, he and his brother Cecil owned and operated a Shell Service Station in Yuba City. Art joined the Linda Lions Club in 1957. He moved to Sacramento in 1963 where he worked as a bartender and eventually moved to Las Vegas where he continued working as a bartender until 1980.

Upon returning to Yuba City, he and his wife, Billie, owned a care home for the elderly. While his wife handled that business, he was a golf teacher teaching professionally at Mallard Lake Golf Course in Yuba City. After five years of instructing, he purchased a semi-truck and drove throughout the country eventually working for Landstar Trucking Company in Kentucky.

Then the wheels fell off - so to speak, following a heart attack and stroke in 2002 and he was forced to retire and return to Marysville (Home Sweet Home) and to the Linda Lions Club. In addition to spending time with his two sons, David and Douglas, who live in the area, he also enjoys on-line computer games, TV golf and socializing with many friends.

Survivors include his sons David Davis of Mt. Shasta and Douglas Davis of Marysville and his companion Judy Dupree of Yuba City. Preceded in death by brother Cecil Davis and sister Waneda Jones.
