Bernard F. Nahlen Obituary

Bernard F. Nahlen, of Olivehurst, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 25, 2016. He was 88. Bernard was born to Florian and Marie "Elizabeth" (Merkel) Nahlen on May 20, 1928 in Conway, AR.

Bernard is survived by his 5 children, Kenneth Nahlen of Boise, ID, John Nahlen of Vallejo, CA, and Sheila Nahlen, Paul Nahlen and Susan Nahlen, all of Yuba City.

He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren; Phillip Levesque and Melissa Nahlen both of Yuba City, Alison Levesque of Klamath Falls, OR, Blake Nahlen of Reno, NV, Rachel Nahlen of Vallejo, and John P. Nahlen of Boise, ID, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bernard served in the US Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal before receiving an Honorable Discharge.

Bernard was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Olivehurst Moose Lodge. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents Florian and Marie, his five brothers Florian, William "Bill", John, Frank and Herman, and four sisters Marie, Frances, Barbara and Molly.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lipp & Sullivan Funeral Home in Marysville, immediately followed by a Rosary Service at the same location at 7:00 p.m. Catholic Mass Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Wednesday July 6 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville, followed by burial service at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst, CA.
