Bill Johnson Obituary

6/18/42 - 8/18/14

William Wayne Johnson, age 72, of Live Oak, CA, died Monday, August 18, 2014 at Rideout Memorial Hospital, of respiratory failure and complications from cancer. After struggling over two years with Leukemia and advanced Lymphoma, he is resting peacefully.

Bill, as most knew him, was born to William Roscoe Johnson and Barbara Willadene (Sanderson) Johnson on June 18th, 1942 in Roseville, CA. He had two older sisters, Meredith (Mitzy) and Marion.

Bill was a longtime resident of Live Oak. He attended Live Oak High School where he played on the basketball and track teams. But where he excelled was in shop class. His grandfather Sanderson was a carpenter by trade and had taught Bill the joy of building and working with his hands. Once in high school, he expanded that joy into the areas of welding and auto mechanics. If you could draw it, Bill could build it!

He was a friend to everyone with his wide smile and easy going charm. At the age of 24 he met Mary Kathryn. They were married on September 9, 1966 in Reno, NV. They were an instant family of six! He became "Dad" to four young children, ages 4-12. He bought his childhood home that his Grandfather had built and moved his family back to Live Oak. In 1968 Katrina Louise was born and then there were seven, in the tiny little house on Fir Street, full of love and laughter. He raised his family and expanded that home where he lived until his death. Bill and Mary were married almost 48 years.

Bill's life long dream was to run his own business. In 1979 he became sole proprietor of Bill Johnson's Repair and Welding on Live Oak Hwy. His shop was his pride and joy. He welcomed everyone who walked through the doors, whether for business or "BS". He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He went on many cross country hunting trips and loved local duck and pheasant hunts. He enjoyed fishing and taking his boat out to the ocean, lakes and rivers nearby.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Johnson, his children, Frank and Sylvia Ybarra, Diana Marlowe, Suzie and Frank Maskovich, Michele and Michael Scoggins, and Katrina and James McHughes. Twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. His mother, Barbara Boyd, his sister, Marion Hunt. Three nephews and one niece.

He is predeceased by his step-father William Boyd, his sister, Meredith Smith and his niece, Pamela Long.

We'll miss you Dad!

Services will be Friday, August 29, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA
