Obituary Condolences

Bob Cayton, a former resident of Oroville and the Yuba Sutter area passed away on November 29, 2013 in Apple Valley MN. He was 87.

Cayton was a veteran and served in the Navy at the end of World War II. He was a member of the first crew of the destroyer, USS John A. Bole.

Following his service in the military, he returned to California, graduated from Chico State University and taught in the Yuba City Unified District for 30 years. He retired in 1983. He was married to Edna Snyder in 1950 and they enjoyed 41 happy years together before she preceded him in death. He later was married to Wilma Spurrier until she passed away in 2005. One of his sons, Brian also preceded him in death.

Bob is survived by two sisters, Patty Edwards and Marilyn Shettlesworth; his son, Robert; and his daughter, Suzanne Hahto; a stepdaughter Pam Spurrier; and stepson, Doug Spurrier. He also has six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel on Sunday, December 8 from 1-3pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am on Monday, December 9 at St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Yuba City, followed by burial at Sutter Cemetery.
