Carl F. Meyer passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Yuba City on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. He was born August 6, 1930.
Carl was hired as a police officer with the Marysville Police Department in 1956 and rose through the ranks to retire as a Captain in 1988. He also served in the Reserve National Guard.
Carl enjoyed being home working in the yard, loved to go gold panning and road trips. Two of his all time favorite vacation spots were Reno and Pismo Beach where he spent many happy times with his wife. In recent years he got great enjoyment spending time with his grandsons Caleb and Jacob.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Peggy Sue Meyer; their daughter and son-in-law Kelli and Kevin Schauer, grandchildren Caleb, Jacob and Faith; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Randy Tidwell, grandchildren Amber, Adam and Ashley; daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Tom Sanchez, grandchildren Erica and Joshua; and step daughter Lisa Vierra, grandchildren Matthew and Samantha. He is also survived by sister-in- law Wilma Huff. He has 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carl was preceded in death by sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Warren Giboney; sister & brother-in-law Beverly and Darrold Daly; brother-in-law Jim Huff and sister-in-law Brenda Mallory.
Carl was one of a kind and was known for his quick wit, great sense of humor, directness, and fun loving way. Carl gave us all so many memories that will be forever in our hearts. He is much loved and will be greatly missed.
Per Carl's wishes there will be no services. Memorial donations may be made in Carl's name to Sutter North Hospice, 400 Plumas Street, Yuba City, CA 95991.
