Carol Joann Jones

Obituary Condolences

Sept. 3, 1950 - May 3, 2015

Carol Joann Jones passed away in Livermore, CA at the home of her daughter, Tracie Sprosty. Carol was born in Marysville, CA to the late James and Hazel Ward. Carol grew up in the home of her grandparents, Chris and Charlotte Nance. After Chris' death Charlotte married John Mathis whom quickly took on the role of Grandfather. They lived in the little area of Linda, CA.

Carol worked for years at Bonanza Inn and at La Comida restaurant for about eight years. She would often work two jobs to have enough money to raise her three daughters. She eventually had enough money to buy a home in Olivehurst, CA, where she raised her children until they were grown. She later attended an occupational college and graduated. With her degree in hand, she got a job at Pacific Benefit Consultant Firm, where she worked for sixteen years.

Carol was a voracious reader of Western novels and anything to do with the Cherokee Indian culture. She enjoyed horseback riding when she had the opportunity. She was a great cook and took special pleasure in teaching her granddaughters how to bake. Carol was well known in the family for her fabulous melt-in- the-mouth candy making.

If you went to visit Carol you were always invited to stay for dinner. She was willing to cook and you would know you were in for a real treat of either homemade Mexican food or Indian fry bread. Always leaving with a full stomach, a good visit and looking forward to the next visit.

Carol was an animal lover and for years had Chihuahuas and a longtime companion, a Doberman, named Roxie whom she loved very much.

Carol will be remembered for her stubbornness and her soft, gentle, caring nature she showed by caring for others. She would be the first to offer help to someone in need, always putting others before herself.

Carol is survived by her three daughters, Christine Giusto (Craig), Shellie West, and Tracie Sprosty (Jason). Nine grandchildren, Earl John Manion, Wessley Giusto, Makayla Giusto, Savannha Sprosty, James Jones, Robert Moller, Robert West, Dwight West, Danni West and three great grandchildren. Two sisters, Brenda Crockett (Dennis) of Pioneer, CA, Judy Reyes (Moses) of Sparks, NV. Four nieces, Penny Ledoux of Lemon Grove, CA, Dottie Sherman of Ceres, CA, Shirley McKnight and Jaime Reyes of Reno, NV and two nephews, William Reyes of Sparks, NV and Tony Reyes of Sparks, NV and her ex-husband, Jim Jones.

Carol will be missed by her family and friends. She has finally found peace.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, May 22, 2015, at 3:00 PM at Crossroads Community Church, 445 B Street, Yuba City, CA 95991. A reception will follow the service.
