Carroll Henry (Sandy) Sandstrom Obituary

Carroll Henry Sandy Sandstrom was born on April 21, 1925 in Riverton, Utah. He served 6 years in both the Army and Navy and was aboard one of the first escort carriers in Tokyo Bay at the signing of the peace treaty.

Sandy lived in the Yuba-Sutter area for 50 years where he was an accomplished mechanic and eventually opened H&S Auto until he retired. He volunteered at Yuba City High School, teaching special needs students to repair bicycles and worked part time as a substitute teacher.

He spent may years with friends fishing the local and bay area waterways. In the latter part of his life, he enjoyed socialing at both Yuba City and Oilvehurst Senior Centers.

Sandy is preceded in death by wives, Barbara (Bridge) and Felice (Rivera) and his eldest son Michael (Buzz) Sandstrom.

He is survived by daughter Christine Hood; son Ken Sandstrom; grandchildren Tammy, Gina, Michael and Sean and several great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at the Yuba City Seniors Center, 777 Ainsley Ave., Yuba City on Sunday, May 17th at 1:00 pm.
