Charles F. Carver Obituary

Charles F. Carver, 85, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, in Yuba City. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Carver, his son David Carver, daughters Pamela Shirley, Mary Dutton, and Debra Carver, along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. "Chuck" Carver was born on December 3, 1929 in Richmond, Virginia and relocated to the Yuba-Sutter area in 1965 with a transfer to Beale Air Force Base. Chuck proudly served 21 years in the military, first Army then Air Force, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired in 1973 as a Master Sergeant then devoted another 20 years to Civil Service at Camp Beale.

Chuck devoted himself to his community and to other veterans. He was Commander of VFW Post 948 for 10 years, served on the Marysville Cemetery Commission for 10 years, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He chaired the Yuba County Commission on Aging, helping to establish a new Senior Center, and worked tirelessly with Central Valley Homeless Veterans Assistance, the annual Veterans Stand Downs, the Veterans Memorial Committee, and the Veterans Day Parade Committee.

Services will be held at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA, on Friday, July 10, 2015, at 10:30 AM sharp. Celebration of Life will follow at the home of Mary and Jim Dutton, 1990 Tierra Buena Road, Yuba City, from 2:00 to 5:00. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sutter North Hospice, the Yuba Sutter Stand Down, or the Yuba Sutter Veterans Day Parade Committee.

You always aimed high, Master Sergeant Carver. You will be deeply missed.
