Chuck died peacefully Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the age of 82. He was the son of Robert and Iva Schlussler of South St. Paul, Minn. He joined the Air Force to travel the world and defend our country. Chuck met his soon-to-be wife Carol on leave in Minnesota and they began their 62-year marriage with a wedding in Tuscon, AZ.

Chuck and Carol had five children, while stationed at several military bases across the U.S. He became actively involved in Masonic Activities while in the military. Chuck and Carol enjoyed the fellowship and friendship of the Freemasons and their spouses. Chuck held numerous leadership positions and especially enjoyed cooking and planning special events. He retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 24 years of service as an air refueling boom operator, but continued to support the military as a civil service employee at McClellan AFB for another 20 years. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Chuck and Carol resided in Wheatland, CA for 40 years, until 2012, when they chose their final home in Grass Valley, CA.

Chuck is preceded in death by his wife Carol and his son Keith (Julie) of Sandpoint, ID. He is survived by his son Michael (Inge) of Wheatland, CA, his daughter Vicki Booen (Mike) of Flower Mound, TX, his son Gary (Jania) of Grass Valley, CA, and his son Jon (Rebecca) of Elk Grove, CA. He and Carol had 12 grandchildren--Eric Booen (Liz), Kyle Booen, Brett Booen, Rachel Alloway (Randy), Caeden Nelson, Haley Nelson, Megan Schlussler, Ethan Schlussler, Sara Schlussler, Victoria Schlussler, Ryan King, and Dylan King. They also had five great-grandchildren.

Chuck was very generous, loved life, and will be missed by everyone. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Hospice of the Foothills for their support in his final days. A celebration of Chuck and Carol's lives will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Nevada City Masonic Lodge, Nevada Lodge #13, at 108 N. Pine St. in Nevada City. Reception to follow.
