As a current member of the Marysville Police Department, it was with great sadness that we learned of Reds death. Red is and always will be a legend here at MPD and many of the more senior officers share stories and legends of Red with our younger men and women joining the force. Although I never had the opportunity to meet him, his spirit guides many of us daily in our profession with Reds example of how to treat people here in our community. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Neuerburg family.

My earliest memory of Uncle Red is from the early 50's when he came to Indiana to visit. He gave me a silver dollar which I had never even seen before. I still have it. When I moved to California some years later, he welcomed me with open arms but he also let me know in no uncertain terms that if I got into any kind of trouble, his being a policeman wasn't going to get me out of trouble. I always knew Uncle Red loved me but I knew too that I was expected to walk the straight and narrow. He'll always live in my heart and I will always love him.

I have known Red since 1961 when I joined the police department and he was my sergeant. I was with him unitl he retired and throughout his career he was very dedicated to his career and his family. I had the pleasure of being a close neighbor for a few years also and considered him someone who could be counted on. The community has lost a great man who will be missed. God bless Ina and family.
