Obituary Condolences

Clarence Calvin DeShane, known as "Shane" to many of his friends, passed away August 17, 2014 at the age of 84. Clarence was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on March 1, 1930, the youngest child of Alfred and Sarah DeShane. The DeShane family moved to California in 1936 where Clarence attended school and worked on the family ranch until he joined the U.S. Army and was later stationed on the Island of Guam.

On return from the Army, Clarence worked in farming in Turlock, CA until much of the DeShane family moved to Oregon. An early marriage blessed Clarence with his three children. While in Oregon and later in California, Clarence worked in construction, sales, security and other jobs. Clarence met Lucille, the love of his life, and after his marriage to Lucille he became the Manager on Grizzly Island in the Delta where he was proud to work with his sons and later managed a mobile home park near Stockton.

Clarence and Lucille later moved to Brownsville, California, where they had a tax preparation business where Clarence kept the computer programs working and Lucille did the tax preparing. Their free time was with family, Lucille quilting, and both working on their property to make it a beautiful, loved oasis. Clarence got his CA Real Estate License while he was in his seventies and enjoyed his last working years. He especially enjoyed his times as a member of the Forbestown Museum and Hill-Top Gang.

Clarence was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille; brother, Archie DeShane; and sister, Loris Arlene Rogers. He is survived by a sister, Velma Stone Davis (Franklin); daughter, Melinda DeShane (James); step-daughter, Kathy Hopson (Ron); sons, Thomas DeShane (Angel) and Donald DeShane (Holli); grandchildren, Dustin, Justin, Peter, Benjamin, Charles, Katrina, Levi and six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends from Brownsville area and the care facilities where he spent his final years.

A memorial service will be Saturday, October 25, 2014, 11:00 a.m., at the Brownsville Cemetery District Pavilion, 8980 La Porte Rd, Brownsville, CA 95919. Following the service, the family would be honored to have you attend a reception at the Challenge Community Church, 10080 La Porte Rd, Challenge CA 95925.
