Craig Knowles Jones Obituary

Craig Knowles Jones passed away on November 14, 2017, in Gridley, California. She was born in Santa Monica, California on October 28, 1947. She attended Western High School and was a cheerleader and top diver on the dive and swim team.

For college she attended the University of California at Davis where she joined the Yolo Parachute Club. She made the required ten jumps in her senior year. She graduated at Davis in June 1969, with a degree in English. She then received her teaching credential in December 1969, and Masters degree in Education, cum laud, in June 1975, both from Chico State University. She taught as an elementary and middle school teacher for both the Wheatland and Marysville school districts. She taught for over 35 years.

In addition to her work, Craig was active in the community. She was past president of the Valley Quilt Guild and a member of the Sutter Buttes Quilt Guild. For many years she was a leader for Bible Studies Fellowship.

The First United Methodist Church of Yuba City was an important part of her life as a volunteer for over 40 years. Her church duties included Sunday school teacher, treasurer and various other leadership positions.

Craig loved to travel. She enjoyed trips to Europe, Hawaii and Alaska. The trip to Los Angeles for the 1984 Summer Olympics was special.

Craig is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Norm, for over 47 years; her children, Cari Lewis (Ted); and Blake Jones; two grandchildren; her brothers, Richard Knowles (Pat Fischer); Donald Knowles (Lyn); and David Knowles (Maryann). She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Pat Knowles.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 2::00 pm at the First United Methodist Church of Yuba City. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that any donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in honor of Craig.
