Daisy Reis Shelton passed away at the age of 92 after a short illness. Daisy was proceeded in death by late husbands, Peter A. Reis Jr, and then Floyd Shelton. She is survived-by her son, Nathan Reis, daughter, Judy Hillery (Robert), three grandchildren, Michael Hillery, Angela Stegall (Brian) and Kimberly Casto; and one great-grandchild, Brenden Casto. Daisy is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family who loved her dearly. Daisy was a strong woman who will be remembered in the hearts and spirits of those who loved her. She will be dearly missed for her constant love and passion to serve her community.

Daisy graduated from Stillwell High School in Stillwell, OK, and Business college. Daisy was retired from the Marysville Joint Unified School District. She was the first female member of the board of trustees for Marysville Joint Unified School District and awarded as an Honorary Life membership of the PTA. She was a strong advocate for our students and community. Daisy was involved in raising funds for many projects including the building of Lindhurst High School and Olivehurst pool.

Daisy was an ardent advocate of elderly care. She was a former member of the Yuba County In-Home Health Support Services Commission Advisory Board and volunteered as a Yuba-Sutter Senior Care Ombudsman.

She served on the Yuba County Grand Jury twice, most recently 2003-2004. She volunteered for elections and voter services. Daisy was further involved in the community as a member of the Marysville First United Methodist Church, Red Hat Society, Yuba City Moose Lodge, Sirs, Clampers, Olivehurst Lions Club and Marysville Elks Club. Daisy had been a cabin owner at Lake Almanor since the 1960's and was active in the Homeowners Association. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews play and grow at her cabin .

A Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel of the Twin Cities located at 715 Shasta Street, Yuba City, CA on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 11am. Interment will be at Sierra View for family members only. A luncheon reception will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Marysville, CA, located at 730 D Street, Marysville, CA, on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 1pm.

The family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church in Marysville, CA, or a charitable organization of your choice in lieu of flowers.
