Dale Robert Leick, 72, was born the eighth of nine children on June 20, 1944, in Yuba City, CA, to Rubert and Cecille Leick of Marysville, CA. He passed away on April 24, 2017, in Chico, CA.

Dale graduated from Marysville High School in 1962, and attended Yuba Jr. College for two years. Dale worked for PG&E for 14 years and UPS for 5 years. During this time, Dale coached his children and many other young athletes in Little League Baseball, Bobby Sox Softball, Pop Warner Football and the Peach Bowl Pacers Track Club.

In 1987, an opportunity opened for Dale to return to school to pursue his dream of becoming a teacher and coach. He attended Chico State University from 1987-1989, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree and completed his teaching credential in 1990. While attending Chico State, he coached football and track at Durham High School. In 1990, Dale was hired at Paradise Intermediate School as a health and P.E. teacher and was hired as the head track coach at Paradise High School. In 1995, he accepted a teaching position at Paradise High School where he continued to coach track and football. He retired from teaching and coaching in 2006.

In his retirement, Dale enjoyed fishing, golfing, ballroom dancing and watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a Marshall at Bidwell Park Golf Course, a member of the Elks Lodge and every Christmas season was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.

He is survived by his children, Dana Moroni (Mark) and David Leick (Robin); his grandchildren, Nicolas Moroni, Emily Moroni and Meghan Leick; his brothers, Ron Leick and Dan Leick; his sisters, Renie Chambers (Clint), Patti Ferrari (Richard) and JoAnn Williams, and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father Rubert Leick, his mother Cecille Leick (Webb), his brother Gerry Leick, and his sisters Coralyn Riley and Bonnie Hamilton.

Dale will be inducted into the Paradise High School Hall of Fame for coaching on May 20, 2017. He was looking forward to this special evening with family and friends. His children will proudly accept his induction on his behalf knowing that their dad is with them in spirit.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 10, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. at Peach Tree Golf and Country Club, 2043 Simpson Dantoni Rd, Marysville, CA

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Veterans Affairs, Salvation Army, or Paradise High School Athletics.
