David W. McVey Obituary

David W. McVey, 73, passed away on November 24, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer.

After graduating from Marysville High School he entered the Marine Corps. He was hired by Sheriff John Dower in 1964 as a deputy at the Yuba County Sheriff's Department. 3 years later, he became a detective and was an active member of the department's shooting team. He also received a Master's Degree in Business Administration. David retired as Undersheriff and earned a private investigator's license and worked for Engle, Curry, Vasquez, and Hansen law firm. He returned to YCSO as a Community Service Officer and was proud of his careers and said he came full circle in Law Enforcement. He was selected as Officer of the Year as a detective & Non-Sworn Officer of the Year as a CSO while at YCSO.

He loved competition shooting, hunting, fishing, camping & Texas Hold'em.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David & Barbara McVey.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; his son, Wade (Patty) McVey; daughter, Dianna Hall (Chuck); grandkids, Valerie, Angela & Glenn McVey, Randy & Ricky Hall; brother Roy (Laura) McVey; nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to , Yuba County DSA/ MSA, or the Marysville Elks Lodge.

A Memorial Service will be held on December 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Marysville Elks Lodge at 920 D. Street.
