Daya Kaur Punian Obituary
Died peacefully at her home, February 14th, 2014. She was born May 11, 1935 in the Fiji Islands. She came to the United States in 1960 and became a citizen a few years later. While raising her family she also belonged to the California Packinghouse Employees Union Local 616, working at the Del Monte Plant.

After retiring, Daya was happiest spending time with her grandchildren, working in her garden and cooking for friends and family. She especially loved children and was an honorary "Nani" and "Mom" to many, young and old.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jit Singh Punian; sons, Ranjit and Raveen Punian; daughter, Veena Punian-Bettencourt; grandchildren, Serena Timoszyk, Joshua Bettencourt and Ella Daya Punian; son-in-law, Jerome Bettencourt; daughter- in-laws, Susan and Michele Punian. She is also survived by two brothers and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City. Prayers and cremation will follow at Ullrey Memorial Chapel Crematory. Arrangements under the direction of Ullrey Memorial. Final prayers and reception with refreshments will follow at the Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, 2669 Bogue Road, Yuba City.
