19, of Marysville, passed away on July 10, 2013.
Derrick was born in Yuba City on October 25, 1993. He attended Wheatland Elementary School, Kynoch Elementary and McKenney Intermediate School. He graduated from Marysville High School and was currently employed with the Appeal-Democrat and the Yuba City Rec Dept.
Derrick loved the game of baseball and how it brought all of his friends together. The occasional game at the sump or wiffle ball games at the Walker's. He loved skateboarding at Glad Tidings and fun games of pickup basketball. He loved hanging out with friends, playing ""Call of Duty"" till all hours of the night and just chillin' at home.
Derrick is survived by his parents Terry and Nancy Brown and brother Dylan; Grandmother Betty Brown; Aunt Patricia Mayberry; Aunt Susan (Oz) Piaskowski; Uncle Roger (Susan) Abe; Aunt Sharon (Walter) High; Uncle Paul (Michelle) Abe; cousins Katie (Sam) Sousa; Kenny Zaragoza; Julie (Bobby) Rojo; Jennifer (Brian) Rasmussen; Brian (Sarah) Abe; John Abe; Henry Abe; Tiffanie and Katelyn Cantwell; Michael and Gabby Rojo; Adrian and Jack Abe; and Grace Rasmussen.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother, Tom and Kiyoko Abe; and grandfather, Ed Brown.
In lieu of flowers a trust fund has been set up in Derrick's name at River Valley Community Bank, 1629 Colusa Hwy., Yuba City, CA 95993.
A viewing will be held Thursday, July 18, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City. A celebration of life will be held Friday July 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Glad Tidings Church, 1179 Eager Rd., Yuba City. Dave Kugelman will be officiating.

Derrick, you were an exceptional person who brought so much joy to our lives. You will be dearly missed.
