Diane Reddin Obituary

And a band of Angels came for to carry her home on August 14th, 2017. Ellen Diane Reddin was born on January 17, 1938, in Colusa, CA, to Leonard and Mildred Shippen. Diane, after graduating from Marysville High School, met and married Leroy Martin in Carson City, NV, on March 8, 1957. Diane and Leroy raised two sons, Lenny and Ricky in Yuba City, CA, where amongst the many things she did for her boys was to be a little league mom and cub scout den mother. Some of our fondest memories were of the times spent together up at the cabin in Doyle, whether it was deer hunting or just a mid summer trip. Diane was as proud as a mother could be of both her boys and their accomplishments. Most of Diane's work career was spent as a bank teller, first for Bank of America, then Feather River State Bank. As the years passed and Diane and Leroy went their separate ways, she met and married Thomas "TR" Reddin in Elko, NV on November 14, 1981. They traveled the country together to various jobs where TR's trade took them. As anyone who knew her would attest, Diane had a huge heart and dearly loved everyone she met along her travels. She loved nature and the outdoors and some of her favorite memories were of times spent with TR in Halleck, NV, where she was truly able to be one with nature.

Diane and TR eventually ended up in Coalinga, CA, enjoying the new life they would make there until TR's untimely death in 1991. As time passed, Diane found her way to Lovey's Landing in Colusa, CA, where she worked as a bartender, waitress and bookkeeper. And of course, many more new friends were made. Diane enjoyed fishing especially with her father and the gang at Lovey's. It was there that she would meet and fall in love with Alfred "Big Al' Fletcher, and they settled in Meridian, CA, where they spent the next twenty years as life partners. It broke her heart when Al passed away in December, 2016. Our hearts are heavy with Diane's passing, but we know as did she that there is a God in Heaven and that she is at peace with Him now. Along with Al, TR and Leroy, Diane is preceded in death by her father, Leonard Shippen, her mother, Mildred "Billie" Fox, stepmother, Evelyn Shippen, and stepfather, Jess Willard Fox.

She is survived by her sons Lenny Martin (Kathy) of Yuba City, CA, and Ricky Martin (Carolyn) of Warden, WA, her sisters; Faye Turner of Williams, CA, Susie Trundy (Jeff) of Loma Rica, CA, and Peggy McCarty (Jim) of Marysville, CA; grandchildren, Amanda, Katherine, Wesley, Erin and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Kamden, Riley, Aryana, Kalena, Cameron, Makela, Joshua, Cam, Austin and Benjamin and 16 nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of her life will take place in her honor at the Meridian Veterans Hall on 4th Street in Meridian, CA, on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017, from 11am to 2pm. Lunch is provided. "Do not follow where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
