Donald Charles Dixon Obituary
\
March 31, 1927 - April 26, 2015

Donald Charles Dixon passed away on April 26, 2015, at Plymouth Square in Stockton, California. He was 88.

Don was born to Walter and Thelma Dixon in Spokane, Washington on March 31, 1927. He was raised in Snohomish, Washington on the family farm. He graduated from Snohomish High School and then served as an Electrician's Mate in the Navy, near the end of World War II.

After attending Gonzaga University on the G.I. Bill, Don began working in construction, ultimately arriving in Angels Camp, California in 1953, where he met the love of his life, Melba Clark. Don and Melba married and moved to Yuba City in 1954, where he worked for Baldwin Construction Company for 30 years.

Don and Melba moved to Stockton in 1995 to be closer to family. Don went to work for a short time at Home Depot, where he often got in trouble for spending too much time helping his customers! He re-retired, and became a fixture in the neighborhood, walking his dog, Elke, and making friends wherever he went.

Don was a loving husband and father, a wonderful grandfather and great-grandfather. He was an avid photographer and loved the outdoors. There are many great memories of camping trips and travel adventures throughout the West.

Don is survived by his wife Melba of Stockton; sister Mary Clemmer and husband Mel of Patterson; sister Margaret Wood of Westminster, CA; children, Meredith Kelley and husband Fred of Stockton; Eric Dixon of Los Gatos; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Elizabeth Morgan, and sisters Ellen Dixon and Irene Dixon.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Plymouth Square for their kind and loving care of Don.

A celebration of Don's life will be held on June 7, 2015 at the Woodbridge Country Club, Lodi, CA. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Rose Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to . Send and read condolences at www.colonialrosechapel.com
