Obituary Condolences

Donna Colleen Tucker
Donna Colleen Tucker passed away December 7, 2014 at the age of 82 after a short illness. She was born in Yuba City, September 23, 1932, the second daughter to Edith and Donald Hodge.

Colleen was always proud of her roots in Live Oak. She loved to tell stories about walking out to her grandfathers prune ranch during the summer and picking prunes with her sisters. They always took a swim in the canal before they left and picked peaches to eat on the way home.

In 1953, she married Roy Tucker. In 1961 they had a daughter, Janine. In 1963, a son, Lonnie. It was Colleen's dream to become a nurse. At 42 years old she finally realized that dream, graduating from the nursing program at Yuba College. She worked as a nurse for Dr. Hoffer, Dr. Shieh, and at Gridley Medical Group. She retired from Gridley Medical Group in 1997.

Colleen has always been active in the community. She was a softball coach for many years and a member of the Sutter County Grand Jury. She was active in Eastern Star and also a member of Sigma Beta Phi and the Live Oak Chamber of Commerce.

Colleen enjoyed travel. She loved going to see her sister in Alaska and her brother in Oregon. She went on many camping trips to the coast with her grandchildren. Whenever it was time to go somewhere, Colleen was in the back seat ready to leave.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Roy Tucker and her sister Marge.

She is survived by her children, Janine (Lyle) Akin of Gridley and Lonnie Tucker of Wheatland; 3 grandchildren, Josh (Claire) Akin, Lindsey Akin and Emily Akin. She has 1 great granddaughter, Alora Akin. Her sisters and brothers, Marilyn Porter, Bobbie Boone, Harlan (Carol) Hodge, Carol (Joe) Moody, Butch (Lynn) LaRoche and Jean LaRoche.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 11:00 am at the Live Oak Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow the service at the First Baptist Church in Live Oak.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Live Oak Chapter of Sigma Beta Phi sorority would be appreciated.
